Winterization Update
Attention Hampton Club residents, this letter serves as a friendly reminder that the Fall/Winter season is approaching and we need to proactively winterize our units. Most units at the Hampton Club have an exterior Hot Water Heater and HVAC System. This System is in a Sealed Closet on the Balcony. In every closet there is a space heater, during the fall and winter months this space heater should always remain on. Failure to do so will result in burst pipes, causing significant damage to your unit and the units below yours. To minimize property damage, we ask that you please have your units inspected by a licensed pluming company before November 30th. If you are leaving your unit for an extended period during the winter months, here are some steps you can take to make sure your unit is winterized.
Turn off the water to your unit. Make sure that the water supply is turned off completely at the
- Close the sink and tub drains.
- If a house is to be vacant for a long time, you may prevent water in a toilet’s trap from
- evaporating (and thereby permitting sewer gases to enter the home) by raising the toilet’s
- lid and seat covering the bowl with saran wrap.
- Drain water from the dishwasher.
- Turn off and drain fountains and other sources of standing water.
- Remove and empty any “whole house” or “inline” filter canisters.
